Porseleinberg (or Porcelain Mountain in English, named for the Kaolin clay in the soils which were used in the production of Porcelain) came to fruition when Boekenhoutskloof Cellar Master Marc Kent went searching for a new source for fruit for his high end Cabernet, Syrah and Chocolate Block. Boekenhoutskloof was purchasing much of its fruit from growers, and competition for these fruit sources was increasing. Wanting to have more control over his fruit sources, he went in search of more fruit. He found a 10 acre vineyard and offered the farmer cash on delivery. The farmer quipped: ?Well why not just buy the farm?? The rest, as they say, is history.
